Then you need to know about SCR and DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF).

SCR Is a post-combustion emission reduction technology and a key element of the SCR process in the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).

It is stored on the vehicle in a tank adjacent to the diesel fuel tank and injected into the exhaust system in front of the Selective catalytic Converter.

DEF is a non-toxic solution based on a mixture of 32.5% urea and 67.5% purified water.

When DEF is injected into the exhaust, it hydrolyses to ammonia which in turn triggers the chemical reaction that is the Selective Catalytic Reduction process and converts the NOx in the exhaust into harmless nitrogen and water.
